From the Chaplain

As you read this we will have celebrated my country’s birthday.  Let us together continue to pray for our country after her birthday.  Pray for the wonderful opportunity that God is giving her:  on her unconstrained religious life; on her passion for education and her eager search for truth; on her zealous care for the poor man’s rights and opportunities; on her quiet homes where future generations of men and women are growing; on her factories and her commerce; on her wide gates open to the east and to the west; on the strange meeting of the races out of which a new race is slowly being born; on her vast enterprise and her illimitable hopefulness; on all that the life of our country must mean for humanity, that the blessing of God may rest on our shores forever.  These words echo the words of Phillips Brooks on July 4, 1880.
